This guide assumes you're running the latest available version of everything listed above. Patching isn't covered here — if you need to know how to patch, the credited site seowhq.net/meta/ifa2 walks through it.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Install Iron Front: Liberation 1944 (and the DLC) through Steam or your store of choice, and launch it once to confirm it runs. Stay on the main menu — no need to start a mission. Do the same for Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead.
  2. Launch the conversion tool from its desktop shortcut. If you didn't create one, the default install path is:
    C:\Program Files\IFArma_conversion
  3. A GUI will open. In most cases, it auto-detects your Arma 2 and Arma 2: OA install paths. If it doesn't, you'll need to set them manually.

On Windows 10, you can get the exact path like this: open the game's install folder, click into the address bar (works like a browser tab), right-click the last segment of the path, and choose Copy address as text. This gives you something like:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead

Setting install paths in the conversion tool
  4. Set the paths for Arma 2, Arma 2: OA, and Iron Front: Liberation 1944 in the tool.
  5. Click the conversion button (should read something like "Create IF Arma" — worth double-checking, since I no longer have the tool installed to confirm the exact label).

Important: do not click "Start Mod" afterward.

Optional: Extra Units and Content

If you want to add extra units and content on top of the base conversion, head to seowhq.net/meta/ifa2 and scroll down to the section titled "Add SEOW-related extras."
